QLD Champs 2003

Cordalba

23/24 August

Come for two great days of orienteering at Cordalba State Forest between Bundaberg & Childers, approximately 3 ½ to 4 hours drive north of Brisbane.

The Bettong Map (named after a small marsupial seen during mapping) is in a new area selected for the event. The area provides good contrast to allow for a variety of courses catering for all ages and levels of ability. As quoted by champion mapper, Eric Andrews, to Dave Lotty regarding the terrain

“It’s the best gully/spur you’ll ever run on.”

The event location is 40km south of Bundaberg, gateway to the southern tip of the Great Barrier Reef, with Lady Musgrave and Lady Elliott Islands just a boat or plane trip away. An hour’s drive south is whale watching centre, Hervey Bay, the stepping off point to World Heritage listed Fraser Island.

Accommodation is available at nearby Childers (15km south of Cordalba), at beautiful Woodgate Beach (35km east of Cordalba) or at Bundaberg. Why not stay an extra couple of days?

The Championships are being organised by the Bundaberg Orienteering club, BUSH. Entry forms will be available at Easter with the closing date for entries being 26th of July. For further information please contact Don Helmrich on (07) 41591227 or donandkerry@interworx.com.au
